Insert a Horizontal or Colored Line |
|
Normally, we use lines to indicate a change of subject matter
that can be found within a long section of text.
Horizontal Lines can divide text into separate subject areas
and make the text easy to read.
You have the option to insert a Horizontal Line
by using the Horizontal Line icon which will automatically insert a black line.
We'll show you two other "tricks" which will enable you to create colored Horizontal Lines
that can coordinate with your site's color scheme.
|
Insert a black Horizontal Line:
1. Inserting a black Horizontal Line is simple. Just move your cursor to where you want the line to be, and click.
2. Now, go up to the 5th section of the Editing Toolbar, and click the Horizontal Line
icon.
3. The line will appear instantly.
4. To delete the line, just place your cursor at the end of the line, and use your Backspace key on your keyboard.
Insert a Horizontal Line that has a Specific Color but Limited Thickness:
1. You probably are aware that any key stroke you make on your keyboard can be highlighted and changed to a color that will coordinate with the colors of your website.
For Horizontal Line creating purposes, let's look at the broken Horizontal and the solid Horizontal Lines that can be made by using the"Underscore" and the "Dash"
key on your keyboard.
2. Below, the first images are the black stroke marks of both keys. Now, we will highlight both examples, go to the Color Picker located in the second section of the Edting
Tool bar, and change them to a red font. (To see more information about the Color Picker, click here.)

3. You have a wide choice of colors to use with these keys, but you are limited in how thick the lines can be. These examples have been thickened by highlighting the lines
and then using the Bold icon.
4. To delete the line, just place your cursor at the end of the line, and use your Backspace key on your keyboard.
Insert a Hoizontal Line that has a Specific Color and Unlimited Thickness.

Actually, what we will be doing here, is creating a simple Table.
If at any time you need to review about "Insert a Table; Common Properties," click here.
To review Cell properties, see "All about Cells," or click here.
|
1. To insert a colored Horizontal Line that has a thickness of your choice, click your cursor at the point where you want the line to be. Then click on the Insert Table
icon located in the 5th section of the Editing Toolbar.
2. Webtreepro brings up the Table Properties dialog box, seen below.
3. The only thing you'll need to do with Table Properties is to decide what percentage the Table Width should be (how long a line it should be), and how the alignment of
the Table should be positioned within the panel.
4. The Table will be inserted into your selected page and panel, and will be surrounded by a faint, dotted line, seen here:
5. In the Spacing box is Border thickness. Remember, any Borders of the Table/Cell that have no designated Border thickness will not be seen...which is exactly
what we want. So, leave the Border thickness set at 0, and click OK.
6. Now, move your cursor into the Table and make a right click which will bring up the Page Details flyout. Select Cells, then Cell Properties because we need to select only
one Border of the Cell to act as our Horizontal Line.
7. The Cell Properties window appears with its two tabs. Skip the Common Properties tab as we want to focus only on a single Border thickness and Border color.
Select the Styles tab.
8. Now, we need to choose a width for the Bottom Border. You can see we chose 1 as the Bottom Border thickness.
9. Now, choose a Border Color by entering a Hex Color Code, or by clicking onto the square which will bring up the Color Palette.
10. Click "OK," and your Horizontal Line with color will look like our example below.
Following the same process, this time we chose a Border thickness of 5.
With this particular trick, the choice of Border thicknesses and colors is entirely up to you!
11. Notice in both Tables, the other three Borders of the Table are not seen, not even when in Edit Mode. We suggest you give the Bottom border a color because then you
will always know the color line indicates the bottom of a Table. This way you can avoid conflicts when placing other Content on the same page.
12. To delete this particular line, you will need to make a right click in the space (the Table)just above the colored bottom Border. The Page Details window will appear.
Select Tables to see the flyout. Select Delete Table.
