Actors
These are the possible persons and/or systems that interact with our site.
Organization Site
This is the Parent Site, the highest level of access, and control and content management. Think of it as www.YourOrganization.com.
Child Site
Each organization may have unlimited Child Sites. While Child Sites can’t have children of their own, they can have an unlimited number of pages.
Site Administrator
The person in charge of the site itself.
Super Site Administrator
This the top “role” of any site, and there can only ever be one user that has this role. This exists for the Organization, also, for each Child Site. This role comes with ALL of the site's permissions. It creates any and all other roles, and then assigns them to users.
For example: The administrator for the Organization may choose to create a role named “Admin” and, then, grant "Admin" a
particular set of Permissions.
Each Child Site will also have a Site Administrator with extensive permissions, but the Site Administrator will be exclusive to the Child Site. However, the same person can be for both an Organization and its child sites.
Role
A role is a collection of permissions. For example: The Content Administrator role has certain permissions related to content creation, editing and having access to the library's content. Another role might be Site Administrator who could add pages, users and create roles. It’s entirely within your power to create as many roles as you need, and assign each role a unique set of permissions.
Permission
Permissions are connected to the various functions of the site. A user may have permission to perform a certain task or be prevented from performing it. Permissions can be given from the Organization sites to the Child sites. A Child user is one who has permission to edit a page on the organization site and also, has permission to edit a page on any of the child sites.

Page
A page is a place where page elements are grouped. For example, the total appearance of a “home page” would be considered a page. A page contains one or more Panels (sections of the page).
Page Element
A page element is a part of the page. It can be HTML, an image, or text. Page elements are the “building blocks” that make up a web page. Page elements are added into Panels.
Panel
This is the area where the user can insert page elements.
Optional Content
Content that is identified by the Organization as optional may be included or excluded in a Child Site by the Child Site Administrator.
Skin
A skin identifies a palette of colors that will be applied to a site, or a page.
Template
A template is a pre-defined page layout that shows panels and their positions on pages.
User
A user is a person that has been granted one or more Roles or sets of Permissions. Some Roles may not have any Permissions. These are considered “View Only” Roles. These Roles are assigned to users so they can be issued a login name and password. Then, they will be able to view pages that are hidden from non-logged-in visitors. Intranets and Extranets use view-only roles.
