Edit or Delete an Image

After an Image has been placed on a page,it may need to be adjusted.

You may want to change its size, add some Alt-Text,

or do other editing, or delete it entirely.

NOTE :

Because Images are placed within an Article, and because you may have chosen to have this Article placed on every page of your site, please visit the page, Edit or Delete an Article, or click here.

An Image that is placed on every page can only be edited on the page where it was first created.  Edit or Delete an Article contains important information about how to find the original page.

  1. Click on the Image you want to change. "Handles" will appear around the Image.
  2. Click the "Insert Image" icon .  The icon will bring up the Library screen.  The Image's properties (Alt-Text, Alignment, Size, Spacing, etc.) and a Preview picture will appear at the bottom right of the Library screen.  This particular part of the Library page is shown below.

  3.     Make the needed changes. You may need to adjust the properties several times before you're satisfied with the way the Image looks on your working

page.  If so, just click on the "Insert Image" icon , because the replaced Image will already have "handles" around it.

  4.     When finished, click,  Replace image in the editor  .   Webtreepro will replace your newly edited Image on your working

           page.

Note:

When you click on an image, handles appear.  You may use these handles to re-size your image,  however if you do this, you won't have any proportion control.  As a result, it's possible to distort your image.

If this happens, you may go back to the Image Library, and click the Restore Original button located in the Layout section of the Library window.  This will seset your image to its original size and proportions. To avoid distortions, you should use the Width/Height and Lock controls located in the Layout section of the Library window.

For more information about these controls, see the page Edit or Delete an Image Stored in the Library, and read the section "To Edit or Delete the Actual Image," or click here.

 To Delete an Image:

   1.   A simple, but potentially "dangerous" way to delete an Image is to put your cursor to the right of the Image.  Then, use your Backspace key on your keyboard to

remove the Image.  This is dangerous because you won't get a "Warning" dialog box that gives you a chance to change your mind about the delete.  If you feel

that the delete was a mistake, and you have not "Saved"  the delete, you can click the "Cancel" icon    that is located in the first section of  the

Editing Toolbar.  It will replace the deleted Image.  But, it will also undo all of the unsaved editing you have made on the page which can be a nuisance.

   2.   A safer way to delete an Image would be to first click the "Save" icon   that is located in the first section of the Editing Toolbar.  This will save all your

latest changes to the page.  Now, you can use the Backspace key on your keyboard.  The Image will be removed.  At this point, if you decide the delete was a

mistake, you can click the "Cancel" icon  to restore the Image without having to restore all the other changes that had been made on the page.

The rest of your page has remained safe.

   3.   Another way to delete an Image is to use the Control and  "X" key on your keyboard.  Click on the Image to bring the "Handles" around it.  Then,

press Ctrl and the "X" key at the same time.  The Image will be deleted.

   4.   If you need to permanently remove an Image that is stored in the Library, you will need to go directly to the Library.  Click on the Library button that is located

in the gray panel to the left of your screen.  The Library screen will come up.  See a portion of the Library screen below.

Now, you'll need to search for the Image:

   5.   To the left of the Library screen, is a listing of file folders.  Click on the folder that contains the Image that you want to delete.

      • My Content: These are Images that are only available for you to use.
      • Site Content:  These are Images that are available to any authorized user of the website.
      • Shared Content:  These are Images only available at the parent level, for uploading.  Images loaded here are available to all child sites.

   6.   If the folder contains different types of files, use the Show dropdown located in the middle of the Library Toolbar.  Show lists all the different types of files stored.

This is a useful tool to narrow a search, rather than go through the entire Library's contents.  Use the Show dropdown and click on "Images Only"  to shorten your

         search effort.

Here are some other Search options:

      • Use the Search tool by entering part of the letters, numbers, or words that are in the Image's title.  Enter the words in the Search bar located in the

                    right of the Library Toolbar.

      • You can, also, search for the Image by entering  Keywords in the Search bar, if  Keywords were previously entered when you first stored the Image.
      • Click Search    and the Library will bring up a list of titles that match your entries.
      • Double click on the title of the image-file you want, and then, click Search .  The Library will bring up the selected file.

      •  If you need to check and see if this is the right file, you can click on the Image's title.  That will bring up a Preview screen, seen below.  To exit the Preview screen, click the Close Preview    button located at the bottom of the screen.

      • You can, also, roll your cursor over the title to see a "Thumbnail" picture of the Image.

      • You can look for the image-file by changing the View which is located right above Created Date.  Use the View's dropdown to toggle between "Listing" and "Thumbnails."  "Thumbnails" will give you a small picture of each Image.  Double click on the "Thumbnail" to see a Preview of the image.  Click on Close Preview to exit the Preview screen.  Click once on the picture to select a "Thumbnail" Image.  Then go to the bottom of the screen and click "Select."

      • Using the actual title of Created Date will help you find a particular image-file, too.  If you know the date when the Image was stored, click on the title Created Date.  The Library will group the Images by the dates on which they were stored, from the earliest date to the latest date.  Click again, and the Library will group the Images from the most recent date to the earliest date.  It is a quick and easy way to search for a recently stored Image.

   7.   When you find the Image, click on the selected Image by clicking on the box to the left of the Image's title.

   8.   If the Image is to be deleted, you can click on the Delete button   in the Library Toolbar.  It is located next to the Upload button.

   9.   A "Warning" dialog box will appear. This box will give you a second chance to consider if the Image should be deleted.

  10.   If you are sure you want to delete the Image, click OK.  The Image will be deleted from the Library and everywhere else it has been placed on your site. Click Cancel

to keep the Image stored in the Library.

CAUTION!

When you delete an Image, everywhere you have inserted that particular Image

that Image will now be replaced by an Invalid Image alert.

You will need to go through each of your web pages,

and replace the Invalid Image alert with a new Image.
