 Add a Text Box

The Text Box control is typically for user-entered-information

such as names, addresses, phone, and email addresses.

Once a Form has been added to a page, insert a Table,

and then, click in the Table.

Now, click the Text Box icon.

Webtreepro will bring up the Text Box Properties window,

seen below.

   1.   Enter a Name.  This is important as it will be used to identify each title of the Form's information.  For an example: a title could

be named Text Box Data.   When the Form is submitted, Webtreepro places each piece of information under a specific

          title Name.

You can get its data from Reports.  For more about Reports, see the bottom of the page Form Example, or click here.

   2.   Select Type:

        • Text:  The text characters are shown as the customer enters information.

        •  Password:  The characters are not shown as the customer enters information.  Bullets are displayed instead.

   3.   Character Width: determines how wide the Text Box will be. The default is 20, but that can be edited to make the box narrower or

          wider.

   4.   Maximum Characters: limits the number of characters a customer may enter.

   5.   Default text is the message that will be shown in Published Mode.  An example could be:  "Enter your email address here."  As the

visitor begins to enter the email address, the default text will erase itself.  You can customize your default text by following

          Steps # 7 & 8.

  6.   Font Settings:   If you'd like to choose a font style for your default text, click the gray button next to Clear

The Font Settings screen shown below will appear.  The first dropdown offers different fonts. To see the actual style of the font, scroll

to the font's name and click.  The style will appear in the white box that in the example below is showing the font Comic Sans MS.

   7.    You also have the ability to choose the Font style, the Font size, and the special effects of Underline and Strikethrough.

   8.   Click OK   to save, or Cancel   to leave the screen without saving.  You can also cancel all

choices by clicking the Clear button  .

   9.   Mark this field as required is chosen when the field is necessary.  If the form is submitted with missing

information, the form will reappear with a  reminder of what needs to be completed.

 10.   Show a message in a new line.  If this is checked, and the Form is submitted with missing information, the Form will show

a reminder on the next  line.  The movement from one line to another helps to catch the visitor's attention.

 11.   Click OK to save.

 12.   Click Cancel  to cancel the entries.
