The First Steps in Adding a Link List to your Website

Let's take the first step in creating a Link List.

You'll want to start on the page that is the Top Level page,

or the first page of the section.

We'll present the first 2 tabs of the Details page, in depth.

The other tab, "Style,"  will be explained in the following pages.

1.  Click the Add Content button that is in the gray

Administration panel in the upper left of  your screen.

Webtreepro will bring up the Add Content wizard.

Scroll down to select  Link List.

2.  Now, at the Placement screen, seen here, select

This page and any page beneath it.

At the bottom, choose the panel where you want the Link List

     to appear.

      •      Some of the templates seen here may or may not be the same  template selection you have available for your use.  The needs of individual websites vary.  Webtreepro offers different

selections to meet your website's particular needs.

3.  Click Next    to go to the Details

window, seen here.  You see there are 3 tabs

at the top of the Details page.  We'll explain the

first 2 tabs, starting with the Links Information

     tab.

   Links Information tab:

         1.   You can now begin to build your links by using the controls on the Links information tab.

        • If you choose Use external URL, your link will go to another site and to a certain page on that site.  To do this, the link's address must be entered in the http:// space.
        • The internal dropdown arrow located to the right of the External URL, will show you all the pages that are within your site.
        • Title:   For internal pages, the title will be automatically entered when you click on the page in the internal dropdown.  You can change this if you want to choose a different name.
        • Title:  For external pages, you will need to give a name to the link.
        • Next to the textbox containing "http://,"  is the Dynamic Content icon.     If you click on the icon, the flyout offers you various options.  These options allow you to insert selected information that will be displayed as part of the external URL address.  This tool is particularly helpful when working with Child sites.
        • Target

          A.  Same Window means it will remain automatically in the same Browser window for the linked URL.

                                   B.  New Window will open a new Browser window.

        •  If you want to insert an Image into your Link List, go to the upper right of the tab, click in the gray square, and you'll be taken to your Library where you can select a desired image from one of your files.

                                    A.  To review how to search for a file in the Library, click here.  The information will be at the bottom of the screen.

                                    B.  When you have selected an image, it will appear in the square, and the pixel Width and Height will be displayed. You can

adjust image's size by changing the pixels' setting.

        • Click the Add button  to add the link. The newly added link will show up in the display panel, Link List, located at the bottom of the window.

      2.  Repeat these steps until all your links appear in the Link List

           display.

The names listed will appear exactly the same way on the linked

pages.  If needed, use the directional controls  (First, Up, Down,

Last)  to change the order of the list.  First highlight the page,

then click on a direction.   An example of the Link List screen

and directional controls is to the right.

      3.  If you would like to include an image in your Link List, you can enter the URL for a link that is to an external image/page.

      • Give the Link a title.
      • Click on the "Image" box to go to your Library to select an image to place in the Link List.
      • Adjust the image's width and height by changing the pixel values.
      • Click "Add."  the image will be included with the other links.

       4.   If you would like to include an image in your Link List that will bring a visitor to a different page within your site:

      • Use the dropdown arrow to select the page that is within your site.
      • Click in the box to go to your Library, and select an image.

   Common Properties tab

 1.   Now, you can select the Common Properties  tab of the Details screen that is seen below.  This is where you can choose how your Link List

       will look.

  2.   There are three choices for positioning your Link List:   Vertical,  Dropdown, and Horizontal List.

 3.   As you can see by comparing the three windows, each List Type requires different choices to be made.  So, to make every

choice clear and easy, each List Type, as well as each Link List's Style window is explained on the following, separate pages.

        • To see how to add a Vertical Link List, see the page Adding Vertical Link Lists, or click here.
        • To see how to add a Horizontal Link List, see the page Adding Horizontal Lists, or click here.
        • To see how to add a Dropdown Link List, see Adding Dropdown Link Lists, or click here.
