A Search Engine will help your visitors find a particular page or subject
that is within the site.
There, undoubtedly, will be times when a Search Engine will need
to be changed in some way, or even deleted.
Let's take a look at all our options.
|
1. Generally, we use a variety of tools when editing. These tools are always seen at the top of the screen, and are available for use on
every page of your site, with one exception. The Form Building Icons can only be used when working on a Form.
- For a complete description of all the editing tools, see the page, A Quick Look at the Editing Icons and What They Can Do,
or click here.

If you have placed a Search Engine that is seen on every page of your site,
and you need to edit or delete it, go to the page where it was first created.
If you don't remember where you first created the Search Engine,
go to any page and do a right click in the Search Engine itself.
The Search Engine Properties flyout will appear, seen here.
Then, click Info. The Element Info flyout will appear, seen below.
Look at the Origin Page.
We see the Search Engine was created on the Admin page.
Now, you can go to the Admin page, and edit or delete the Search Engine following the instructions below.

-
Info: This offers specific information about the Search Engine, such as the Origin of the site, the Placement (whether it is shown on all pages, or not), who created the Search Engine, etc.
- Hide: It allows you to hide the Search Engine when it is in Published Mode. This is especially helpful if it is not ready to be seen by a visitor. Also, it's handy to use if a Parent site has content being pushed to a Child site, but doesn't want it seen on the Parent site.
- Opt-In is not available for a Search Engine.
- Delete: If you click on this, a "Warning" pop-up will appear, as seen below. Click OK to go ahead and delete the Search Engine. Click Cancel to avoid deleting.

Move Last. These choices can be used in the current panel. Other choices offer to move the Search Engine to panels outside the
current panel, such as, to the Main panel, the Header, the Footer, or to the Menu panel.
the items are grayed out is because each Custom Search element can only have a single type of each item. You can have a single
search button, a single preview or a single textbox. So, if you already have one of those in your Custom Search, the other options,
shown below, will appear grayed out.
tab and change certain Search Engine components.

1. Content Type: Describes the element which, in this case, is a Search Engine. If you want to change the element to a different
content type, you cannot do that here. To change the Search Engine to another element, you will need to delete it first. See "Delete"
information stated above.
2. Placement: You can change how the Search Engine will appear, whether on all pages or just one page. Most Search Engines appear
on all pages. You cannot change the Search Engine's panel location. To review Placement, click here.

Search Engine; Custom, or click here.
