Question: |
Do you have a recommendation with regards to the size of image files that should be used on the site? I'm worried that the size will slow down the uploading of the page. |
|
Answer: |
Optimizing images and graphics is almost a must. Having a large image could slow down the upload time for your page. Record the time it takes for your site to load. If it's longer than 3 seconds, you should
consider optimizing your graphics and/or images.
Here are some tips:
1. If you have a picture or photograph, use JPG which is a compressed file with good quality standards.
2. GIF is used more for graphics made of lines and shapes, with sharp edges and text. GIF can also be used for animation.
3. PNG is great for quality and file size, and combines the best traits of JPG and GIF.
4. Avoid saving a JPG to either PNG or GIF as the images usually come out distorted.
