 The Page Attributes Screen

The Page Attributes screen is where the page

and its Menu are named.

This is where you can give a description of the page,

and enter keywords which will be helpful for Search Engines.

And, this is also where you can Exclude a page

from the List of Pages that are seen to the left of your screen.

  1. Enter the Menu Name.  This is what will appear on the Menu and we suggest it be a user-friendly name.  It must be a minimum of three and a maximum of 50 characters.

    2.   Page Name will automatically create a Page Path.

        • Default indicates the page name path built by Webtreepro.  If you need to use an alternative suffix, you can choose from the following by using the .aspx dropdown:
            • .aspx
            • .asp
            • .html
            • .htm

   3.   Custom allows you to create a special URL which can be helpful to Search Engines.  Caution: this must be unique and not

conflict with any other page names.

   4.   Exclude this page from the menu:  If checked, it means this page will not show in the Menu, but will be stored in the

"Excluded Pages" located at the end of the "List of Pages." This is in the left rail of your screen, under the gray panel.  Excluding a

page is helpful when there needs to be more work done on it, or if the page is time sensitive (such as a holiday promotion or

advertisement) and you don't want the page to be seen until the appropriate time.

   5.   Display Alternative Home Page:  Using the dropdown arrow, you can choose to have one of your other site pages

          greet visitors.

 About Meta tags:

To the right of Page Name is the META Tags button .  Click it and the META Tags Properties window comes up.

When you enter keywords in a Search, the Search Engine "looks" for those keywords and brings you the results that match the keywords.  You'll want to use keywords in the META Name and Description because Search Engines include META Tags in their searches.

      • META Name:   Make your name or title as unique as possible.  Make sure it is different from any of the other pages in your site because Search Engines consider duplicate titles to be spam.   The name must clearly state what kind of information will be placed on this page.  Typically, the maximum number of characters in the title will be between 60 and 70, so choose your words carefully.  Good words to use in the META Name are:   "How to...," "Guidelines for...," or "Information about..."

      • Description:  It's best to write the Description as if it were a summary explaining what information will be found on the page.  As a guideline, the Description should be about twice as long as the META Name, and be very clear about the content of the page.  The Description should be keyword-rich but NOT duplicate any important word as it probably will look forced,  and Search Engines might consider the Description to be spam.
      • Click the Add More  button, if you want to add more Meta Tags.  A scroll bar will appear to the right.  Use it scroll down and add other Names and Descriptions.  If needed, you can click the Add More button again, and continue adding to your META Tags list.

Now, let's return to the rest of the Page Attributes' window.

   6.    Enter the Page Title.  Webtreepro will copy the "Menu Name" by default, but you may over-ride this by backspacing and re-

           typing in the entry box.

   7.   Enter a Description (optional).  Some Search Engines may look at this data for indexing.

   8.   Enter any desired Keywords (optional).  These are words that might not be part of your actual content, but which will be useful

to search engine optimization.  An example of your actual content could be ice cream.  Words that may not be in the actual

content could be cold dairy dessert,  cone, or hot weather, frozen treat.

   9.   Click Next  .   Webtreepro will take you to the Page Location screen.
