Publishing
The Publishing section is where you determine if a page should be pushed to your child sites, and if the child site users should be able to edit the page from the child site. The terms "push", "pushdown" and "pushed down" refer to taking content from a parent site and making it available to a child site.
- Make this page available to child sites: Checking this box pushes this page to the child sites. When selected, other options become available, as seen in the image above. Leaving this box unchecked prevents this page from pushing to child sites, and all the other options will be grayed out. The page will therefore, only appear on the parent site.
- Child site may add or edit content on this page: Checking this box will allow the child site users to add its own (local) content and/or edit pushed content (if the parent site has given this permission). Leaving this box unchecked will prohibit child site users from adding, deleting, or editing this page.
- Each page below this page will use these same publishing settings: Checking this box will cause any pages that are "nested" under this page to have the same settings in the publishing tab. This will cause all options in the publishing tab to become disabled for any page that is "nested" underneath the current page.
- Use Parent Skin instead of Child's Default Skin: Checking this box ensures that even if the child site has a different skin, this page will appear in whichever skin appears on the parent site. Leaving this unchecked means the page will appear in the child site’s default skin.
- Page Settings can be edited in the Child Site: Page Settings refers to all the options that are available on all the tabs of the "Add a New Page" and "Edit Page Settings" wizards. If this box is selected, the child site users will be able to edit the page settings.
- Child site may optimize this page from the SEO Center: If this box is selected, the child site users will have the freedom of editing and controlling this page's SEO optimization from the SEO Center.
- This page will be: Use the radio buttons to make the page either required or optional.
- Required on child sites: If the parent makes the page required, child sites do not have the option of refusing it. A new page can only be required, when the pages above it are also required.
- Optional on child sites: If the parent makes the page optional, child site users have the option of refusing the page on their child site.
- Notify the child sites: When this checkbox is selected, the parent site must enter the email addresses of child sites, which allows the child site to receive a notification when content is pushed from parent site to their child site.
- Please select the sites who will have this page:
- Parent Site: In order to check or uncheck this box, the lock icon must be unlocked. [Only users who have the admin role have permission to lock/unlock.] -
- Click on the lock icon to enable the field.
- Check or uncheck the box. If checked, the page will show in published mode on parent site. If unchecked, the page will become hidden in on the parent site in published mode.
- All Child Sites: If checked, the page will be pushed to all child sites. If unchecked, then you will have the option to push the page to individual child sites, by checking or unchecking the boxes next to each site. If the parent site has set up groups of sites, it can select a group. The sites that are within the group also must inherit the page.
